Indiana Farmers Union to Host Harvest Season Event with ‘Farmers for America’ film screening, Indianapolis-based Shelby County Sinners Music Set, and Potluck at Dugger Family Farm

Morristown, Indiana – Indiana Farmers Union and Dugger Family Farm are partnering to host a film screening, music set and potluck dinner on Aug. 18 as an end-of-the-summer harvest season celebration. The event, open to both Indiana Farmers Union members and the general public, will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. at Dugger Family Farm in Morristown, Indiana.

The evening provides guests with an opportunity to eat together, to enjoy local music and to learn more about the state of agriculture today. The event’s schedule includes:

  • Potluck dinner at 5 p.m.
  • Band at 6 p.m.
  • Film at 7 p.m.
  • S’mores by the fire after 8 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to bring a dish for the potluck and to arrive early. (Everyone eats until the food runs out!) Please feel free to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy dinner, picnic-style on the farm. Kids are welcome; pets are not allowed. This is a safety precaution for Dugger Family Farm’s animals, for event guests, and for guests’ pets.

About the film: The average age of the U.S. farmer is 60. Half of America’s farmland is going to change hands in the next 12 years. Ninety percent of our food is imported into the state, and 20 percent of the food in the U.S. is imported. “Farmers for America” tells the story of young people who are stepping up and into agriculture today. About the band: The Shelby County Sinners draw in fans with the band’s rogue country music stylings, which highlight the percussive interplay between singer/songwriter Shelby Kelley’s acoustic rhythm guitar and Morrison Foster’s attack on the upright bass. Eric Grimmitt brings edge and color to the music with his lead guitar. For more information on Shelby County Sinners, visit www.facebook.com/theshelbycountysinners
